The day has arrived

It is true that over the years, bloggers haven’t been my favorite group of people.  After all, between blog authors and commenters, it seems like I’m the guy many of them love to hate — specializing in spreading falsities and half-truths about me, my record, and my character.

I’m reminded of some wise words:

“The credit belongs to those who are actually in the arena. . . .who, at the worst, if they fail, fail while daring greatly, so that their place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.”
— Teddy Roosevelt

But, I should also admit that given my past outright rejection of some of these electronic pundits, I probably didn’t go very far in endearing myself to them, so I suppose I’m partly to blame for the bad blood.  Of course, some of these bloggers are good people who mean well — even some of those who have been critical of me.  So, my casting of all bloggers into one big (negative) category several years ago was wrong.

In addition, as we all now know, some blogs have turned out to be (to varying degrees) credible news sources in the current information age. I guess it is time for me to give them well deserved credit for that.

And, if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then I guess I should announce that the day has finally come.  I now have a blog.  Perhaps the old adage of “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” may apply here. Maybe not.  We’ll see; time will tell.

Either way, I now join the ranks of those who have web-logs, and while I don’t expect to be as exhaustive in my posts as many others are with theirs, I hope to contribute to the discourse and constructive debate about politics in our community, Commonwealth, and country.  If I ever lack intellectual honesty or consistency, blindly favor one party over another, or seem to compromise principle, please call me on it.
